What To Wear For A Perth Photoshoot

Updated: 4 days ago

You’ve booked your photography session with me (yay!), and now you’re thinking—what do we wear? Don’t worry, it’s easier than you think. Here’s a simple guide to help you look and feel amazing on the day.

what to wear for a perth family photoshoot

Keep It Neutral & Natural

Soft, earthy tones always look beautiful in photos. Think beige, white, olive, rust, pastel colours; Shades that work with Perth’s golden light and natural backdrops.

Avoid: Bright neons, bold prints, or big logos... Nope!

Mix, Don’t Match

No need for everyone to wear the same thing. Instead, choose coordinating colors that flow together. If one person wears beige, the others can mix in soft blues, whites, or muted greens.

Dress For The Location

Your outfit should suit the setting—no stilettos in the sand, no boardies in a city shoot.

• Beach: Flowy dresses, linen shirts, and bare feet. Salt-in-the-hair kind of vibes.

• Bushland/Park: Earthy tones, relaxed fits.

• City Streets: Simple, stylish, and neutral.

• At Home: Soft, comfy, and cozy.

Comfort is Key

If you can’t sit, hug, or breathe properly in it, don’t wear it. The last thing you want is to be adjusting your outfit every five minutes while I’m trying to capture the magic.

For kids? Dress them in something comfy and let them run wild. If they’re happy, your photos will be better for it.

Layers & Texture Make Everything Better

Adding linen, cotton, knits, or lace brings depth to your photos. Layers, layers!

Dress for the Weather (Perth Can Be Unpredictable)

• Scorching? Light fabrics so you don’t sweat through your shirt.

• Freezing? Layers, knits, and jackets that you actually like in photos.

• Windy? Flowy dresses are gorgeous—just make sure they’re not so floaty they turn into a full-blown wardrobe malfunction. And hair up ;)

Just Be Yourself

At the end of the day, the best photos happen when you feel comfortable. Wear something that feels like you, something that keeps you confident.
